Nurse Extern

Job Description: The Nurse Extern will provide nursing assistance under the continuous onsite supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Nurse Extern may perform acts that are routinely part of any Nursing Assistant's job description in addition to acts that have been taught in their nursing education program provided that they are individually educationally prepared and clinically competent to perform the acts.

Education: Nursing students who are enrolled in an accredited school of nursing program and have completed their first year in an Associate Degree Nursing Program, their Junior year in a Bachelor's of Science Nursing Program, or their second semester in a Practical Nursing Program are eligible for the Nurse Extern Program.

Proof of active enrollment will be verified by submitting documentation of the Student's Skills Performance Evaluation or an official letter from the nursing program documenting the specific skills that the student has successfully completed in his/her program of nursing.

PRN position available. Must be available to work flexible shifts including weekends for the 10-week program. After successful completion of the program, the student may choose to continue working as a PRN employee, if requested by Department Director.
